What does Gers have to offer?

We are nestled in the country of D’Artagnan and the Musketeers, and Gers holds the key to a charming and relaxing holiday in the countryside.

Travel just 90 minutes and you can be skiing in the Pyrenees or sunbathing on a beach. Go a little further and you can be in Spain sampling rioja and tapas. Gers really is ideally placed to visit many places. Or you can simply stay put, enjoy the sun, have an alfresco BBQ under your large covered patio and cool down in your private pool. Here you have your own small slice of heaven.
Only ten minutes away is Nogaro and the Circuit de Paul Armagnac which hosts super bike racing, trucks, GT cars and historic events too. It is well worth a visit if you love the sound of engines roaring! Check out their website for upcoming events.
Nearby at Barbotan is the thermal spa offering a range of treatments, breaks and retreats with fitness and well being facilities. Great for relaxation and recharging your batteries. There is also a weekly market to stock up on local cheese and essentials, and why not have a coffee and just watch French life happening before your eyes.

When summer arrives the whole area comes alive with music, the sound of the bandas, jazz in Marciac, country or rock tunes…Gascony loves to play and come out to eat. Each village has its own fête where everyone comes together to celebrate whats best about Gers. Friendliness, music, food and the vines. No night is bigger than July 14th with food, fireworks and decorated floats, Bastille Day is a firm fixture on everyone’s calendar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need to bring sheets and towels with us?

All your linen, towels and beach towels are included. If you are staying for 2 weeks, everything is changed after week one.

Can we do laundry while we are there?

Yes you have your own private laundry room with a washing machine.

Is the swimming pool heated and alarmed?

The pool has an alarm as is required by French law, but it is not heated. You can swim comfortably from June to September.

Where is the nearest airport?

The nearest airport is Lourdes for flights to Stanstead. Otherwise Toulouse and Bordeaux are the easiest to use.

How far is it to the nearest town/supermarket?

The nearest village is Estang, about 4 km away. Here you’ll find a baker, butcher, grocers, pharmacy and a great restaurant. The nearest Intermarché and fuel is in Cazaubon about 12km away, and Le Clerc, Lidl in Eauze about 20km away.

Is the gite heated?

The gite has a lovely open fireplace with a log burner and each room has a heater. Its lovely and cosy in winter with shutters closed.

Does the gite have air conditioning?

No there is no air conditioning, but as it’s an old building it keeps cool in summer, especially if you use the shutters.

Is the gite accessible for disabled or older people?

The gite has 3 steps in through the front door, and level access at the side door. Once inside everything is on one level and all doorways are wide enough for a wheelchair.

How can we pay for our visit to Maison Coeur?

We accept payments by bank transfer and PayPal, so that also includes credit and debit cards.

Can we bring our dog along with us to Maison Coeur?

I am really sorry but we do not allow dogs to stay. It is purely because we have dogs of our own who would constantly want to visit you if they knew we had a four legged guest.
